Diagnostics and logs

This section supports internal troubleshooting when BioTrack is not behaving as expected.

The layout and settings area expose whether:

  • the background service is running
  • the device is connected
  • attendance events are being received
  • the listener has uptime

If the service is not running, BioTrack will not receive live attendance events.

The settings area supports:

  • testing the device connection
  • saving device configuration
  • restarting the service
  • reviewing timezone and work-hour settings
  • backing up the database
  • restoring from backup
  • listing and reading log files
  • exporting logs
  • clearing recent logs

Log review helps when:

  • the device shows as offline
  • attendance events are not arriving
  • setup completed but the test event never appeared
  • an internal team needs a record of service behavior

Backup is the safe path before major changes or recovery work. Restore is appropriate when a known-good database state needs to be brought back after corruption, loss, or failed changes.

  1. Confirm whether the service is running.
  2. Confirm whether the device is connected.
  3. Test the saved device connection.
  4. Review the listener and port settings.
  5. Inspect the latest logs.
  6. Export logs if deeper support is needed.
  7. Use backup and restore only when recovery is required.
